Hi there! My name is Andrés and I’m an astronomer currently working at the University of Southampton in the UK.

Science

2oopc ~ 652 lightyears ~ 41,250,000 AU
H = Hydrogen
O = Oxygen
N = Nitrogen
S = Sulfur

The image shows one of the numerical simulations I am working with at the moment. A spherical gas cloud with uniform density has been irradiated with the accretion disk from an Ultraluminous X-ray source. What we see is how this gas would glow in various atomic transitions. Head to this Section for more details!

You can also check my publications in this website or in the NASA’s Astrophysics Data System, find me on ResearchGate, or checkout my Blog below, where I also discuss some science. You can also find my PhD thesis here.

Planets in Motion

Create badass multi-planetary transit animations.

The project is open source on github https://github.com/andresgur/planetsinmotion-webapp. Contributions are welcome.

The White Orange

Besides scientific papers, and when time allows for it, I also like to write ideas, thoughts, anything that crosses my mind and that I feel worth writing down.

Everything I’ve read (I think) for the last ~5 years. If you are looking for your next read, check it out.
